Gnaoua Festival


The Gnaoua and World Music Festival, held annually in Essaouira, is one of the most important events on the Moroccan cultural scene. It celebrates Gnaoua music, a form of traditional Afro-Moroccan music with origins in sub-Saharan Africa. Gnaoua music is characterized by traditional instruments such as the guembri, krakebs and tbel.
